Q: What makes Purely By Nature™'s products different from drug-store mineral makeup?

A: The ingredients! If you read the labels, you will notice quite a difference. Most of the drug and department store brands (as well as the "big" TV brands) have chemicals and cheap fillers such as Bismuth Oxychloride and talc. Don't take our word for it--take some time to read the labels for yourself and make an educated decision about what you want to put on your face, as well as how it may affect your skin.

Also, we offer a larger variety of colors and shades than most brands, ensuring a good match for each skin tone.

Foundations: Mica,Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarine Blue, Serecite.
Finishing Powders: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Kaolin Clay.
Transparent Finishing Powder: Green Tea powder that has been water processed for only the best skin vitamins, cranberry powder for the flavonoid and antioxidant properties, along with the minerals of rice silk and bamboo silk (which comes from the buds of the rice and bamboo plant---not the rice or bamboo powder or starch that are commonly sold), pure kaolin clay and serecite.
Concealers: Mica, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide.
Blushes: Mica, Iron oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide.
Eye Shadows: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide. May also contain Ferric Ferrocyanide. Our Diamonds Collection contains Borosilicate.
Green Tea Night Renewal Powder: Green Tea Powder, Kaolin Clay, Rice Silk, Bamboo Silk, Zinc Oxide. Green Tea Powder is derived from the green tea plant and known as one the most important healing and skin protecting ingredients. Rice Silk and Bamboo Silk are both known for their skin protecting and healing properties.
Lip Products: Castor oil, cetyl stearyl alcohol (palm/coconut oil), olive oil, beeswax, hydrogenated castor oil, soybean oil, lauryl laurate (coconut oil), carnuba and candelilla wax, flavor and/or essential oils. Lip products with minerals added for color and sparkle also include: mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide.

What do each of our mineral ingredients do?

Zinc Oxide USP is a natural mineral known for its healing and/or soothing properties in problem skin such as rosacea and acne, its ability to stay on well even while sweating and swimming, and offers some protection from the sun`s harmful UV rays. We still recommend you use a high SPF sunscreen daily, even while using PbN™ mineral makeup.
Titanium Dioxide is a natural mineral that has waterproof and SPF properties while providing a Matte look.
Mica is a natural mineral from the earth. It has some transparent properties and allows the makeup to go on smoothly.
Iron Oxides are natural, water-processed, oxidized salts that give the makeup its pigment (color).
Ultramarine Blue is a pigment coloring agent that is required in some shades of makeup since there is no blue oxide.
Ferric Ferrocyanide is a natural pigment that provides blue tones.
Serecite is a pure mineral mica and is used as a base for makeup and provides skin adhesion (aka staying power).
Borosylicate is used in the Diamonds eye colors. It is NOT a mineral--it is a cosmetic approved ingredient, with a large macron size to give it the immense sparkly look.
Kaolin Clay is natural mined clay found in the USA. Holds great amounts of oil and water, often used in preparations for oily zones of the face. Helps dry skin.
